If you want to attain your fitness goals, they must be specific. Creating goals does not need to be complicated, but it must be exact. For example, “run better” is not a goal. “Run a 5k race by the end of January” is a goal. An even better goal would include a desired time.
Invite your close friends to exercise with you. A great way to make your fitness routine more fun, and rewarding, is to have your friends join you in it. You will soon find that working out in a group is an easy way to keep each other motivated and moving.
If you are a runner, log the mileage on your running shoes. Shoes get worn out and when they do they can cause pain and injuries if they are still used. A good rule is to replace your running shoes every five hundred miles, even if they feel like they still have some miles in them.
Make sure you’re using the proper forms when you’re exercising. If you try to cut corners, you’re only cheating yourself. Cutting corners means you’re not going to get the full benefit of your workout. Not only that, but you risk injuring yourself and putting your fitness goals in the toilet.
One simple way to remember to keep your head aligned when working out is to press your tongue against the roof of your mouth. Believe it or not, this simple step helps you to keep your head level while performing crunches which keeps you focused on using the right muscles while avoiding unnecessary neck strain.
If you have a desk job and are concerned about staying fit, consider storing a mini-stepper under your desk and use it for a few minutes of every hour. Even five minutes of fitness per hour will make a big difference. This will also help prevent the soreness and stiffness associated with prolonged periods of inactivity.
